The Marshall County Jail in Guntersville, Alabama, is committed to providing a safe and secure environment and ensuring that all inmates and employees are treated fairly and in accordance with the Alabama State laws. The jail is operated and maintained 24 hours a day and 7 days a week by several shifts of correctional supervisors, administration, and general correctional officers. The jail houses inmates who are either currently serving a sentence or who are awaiting trial or transfer to another detention facility. Jail Visitation Hours / Marshall County Inmate Roster
Visitation permitted on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by clicking here or by using the visitation center desk. However, prior to scheduling a visit, it is recommended that you first search the Marshall County inmate roster here to confirm the inmate’s presence at the jail. Visits are not allowed to be scheduled by phone.
Visitation Rules
Visitors must comply with the jail’s visitation rules and act accordingly or risk losing visitation privileges. Visitors who fail to abide by the rules may be escorted off the property. In addition, visitors must dress properly while visiting the jail. For example, visitors may not wear low-cut tops, short skirts or shorts, or transparent clothing. Inmate Mail
Inmates are only allowed to receive 3×5 pre-metered postcards. Inmates are not allowed to receive photos or letters. In addition, all mail is subject to be searched. Should a piece of mail fail to comply with the rules, it will be discarded and not delivered to the inmate. Mail must include the name of the sender and a return address. Money can be administered to an inmate here, by phone at 866-516-0155, or by using the kiosk in the sheriff’s department main lobby. Inmates or individuals acting on their behalf can post bond in its entirety in cash at the clerk’s office. The receipt of payment must be shown at the sheriff’s office prior to release. Sheriff’s Office
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the day-to-day operations of maintaining various departments within the county, including tax information, pistol permits, licenses, budget and record keeping, court schedules and maintaining court documents, training for the general public, and data entry. Also includes within the office are highly trained professionals who lead in crime prevention strategies, such as the criminal investigations department, a K9 division, and the marine division. The marine division patrols Lake Guntersville and enforces both state and local boating laws. The sheriff’s office also participates in Project Lifesaver, a well-known and widely used program that aids in providing quick and effective responses to finding certain types of individuals, such as adults with cognitive impairments.
