• Mail must contain a return address and the sender’s full name.
• All incoming inmate mail must be on a plain white post card.
• Mail must not be sprayed with any scent, such as cologne or perfume.
• Stickers, newspaper clippings, printouts, cards (such as anniversary or birthday cards), or sexually explicit profanity of any kind is not allowed.
• Each piece of mail is inspected by staff prior to it reaching the inmate.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is committed to delivering fair justice and creating a safe environment for all citizens of the area. It is headed by several administration leaders, deputies, and dispatchers. Their main focus is to assist and lead the day-to-day operations that is needed for maintaining the community, including maintaining various records, pistol permits, licenses, tax information, court system documentation, and arrest records. The staff of the sheriff’s office also assists with emergency preparedness operations and education, and it has a Drug Task Force that works with agencies and departments all over the state of Alabama.
