The Madison County Jail houses local inmates either currently serving a sentence, or who are awaiting trial or waiting to be transferred to Alabama State Detention Center. The jail is required to be staffed with skilled and trained correctional officers who are committed to safety and well-being of each inmate. Inmates at the jail have the ability to obtain access to several programs, including a GED program, substance abuse assistance, alcoholics anonymous meetings, anger management classes, and transitional skills courses. Incarcerated persons also have access to church and ministry services if requested and have access to medical care through Southern Health Partners. Visitation Hours / Madison County Inmate Roster
Inmates must be incarcerated at least 30 days before they are allowed visitation. Visitation appointments can be scheduled up to 48 hours in advance here. However, please confirm the inmate’s presence at the jail here by searching the Madison County inmate roster before scheduling a visit. The visitation schedule is as follows:
Housing 1 Units A-E: Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Housing 2 Units F-K: Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
L Floor: Mondays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
M Floor: Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
N Floor: Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
P Floor: Mondays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
No visits will be scheduled between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 pm..
Visitation Rules
The cost for remote visitation is $0.38 per minute and is paid for by the visitor. Visitors must create an account here to schedule a visit. The jail has the right to terminate or suspend visitation for security and safety purposes at any time and without notice. Officials may also cancel visitation if the visitor and/or inmate is behaving in an inappropriate manner.
Inmate Mail / Madison County Inmate Roster
To send mail to an inmate at the jail address above, address the envelope with the inmate’s first and last name, as well as the inmate’s booking number, which can be located by viewing the Madison County inmate roster here. A valid return to sender address is also required. If a return address and name is not apparent on the piece of mail, it will be disposed of. Any mail containing contraband will also be disposed of and not delivered to the inmate.

Visitors can drop off or pick up medications, eyeglasses, contacts, and other approved medical items directly at the jail Monday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Please note all items that are dropped off for an inmate will be subjected to a search. Sheriff’s Office
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and includes several divisions, including narcotics, missing persons, community watch, general criminal investigations, and school resource officers. Deputies and officers with the office patrol 24 hours a day, 7 days per week to ensure the safety of the community. The office’s staff includes a sheriff, chief deputy, a chief of jail administrations, a captain of support divisions, uniform patrol division, and a captain of internal affairs. The sheriff’s office handles day-to-day community operations, including, but not limited to, pistol applications, tax information, and Project Lifesaver.
