Sheriff’s Office

The mission statement of the local sheriff’s office is to protect life and property, preserve the constitutional rights of each citizen, and enforce the law. The sheriff’s office deputies patrol over 600 square miles 24 hours a day and 7 days per week. The office can be reached via telephone at 256-232-0111. About the County / Limestone County Inmate Search

The county is located near the Appalachian Mountains and is in the center of the Tennessee Valley. Its county seat is Athens, and its largest city is Huntsville. It is named after the Limestone creek that runs through the county and made from hard limestone. The county has an area total of 607 square miles, of which 560 square miles is land, and 47 is water. It was founded in 1818 by the Alabama Territorial Legislature, and it is the third smallest county in the state according to its land area only.
