About the County / Lamar County Inmate Search
The county was formed in 1877 and was named after Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar. It has approximately a total of 605 square miles, and its largest seat is Vernon. To establish Lamar County, land was taken from surrounding areas known as Marion and Fayette Counties. The county is also home to a detention center.
