Henry County Jail Visitation Rules
The rules for visitation of an inmate in Henry County Jail are as followed:
- Visitor must have a current state ID.
- No sitting on tables.
- No food, drinks, or cell phones are allowed.
- No purses, no smoking, and no profanity.
- All children must be attended to.
- Only two visitors are allowed into the visitation room at a time.
- Visitors are not allowed to wear miniskirts, low cut tops, tank tops, or tube tops.
- Please note that correctional officers have the right to refuse visitation for failure to comply with the above stated rules, or for any reason they perceive as unacceptable or inappropriate.

Sheriff
Sheriff Eric Blankenship is the current sheriff of the county. He has been in law enforcement since 2009, when he started as a reserve deputy. He has experience in K9 handling, Sergeant on Patrol and in narcotics as a Task Force Operator with the Alabama State Drug Enforcement. Sheriff Blankenship became sheriff in November 2022. He was born and raised in Henry County and has an open door policy for all local citizens.
About the County
The county is located in the southeastern part of Alabama. Its county seat is Abbeville, and its largest city is Headland. The county was named after Patrick Henry, who was a famous orator and Governor of Virginia. It was founded December 13, 1819, by the Alabama Territorial Legislature. The area that includes the county had historically been occupied by the people of the Lower Creek Confederacy, who are now known as the Muscogee.

The county has an average total of 568 square miles. According to the 2020 census, there were 17,146 people, 6,630 households, and 4,505 families residing in the county. There are 69.07% White residents, 24.68% Black or African American, 0.29% Native American, and 1.95% Hispanic or Latino residents in Henry County.
