The Geneva County Jail is a 160-bed facility that houses municipal, county, and state inmates both pretrial and convicted. Geneva County Jail is fully staffed with 17 trained officers 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Every staff member works in twelve-hour shifts. Safety and the wellbeing of each inmate is of top priority for staff members. If requested, inmates are able to receive both on and off-site medical, dental and mental health services. Before scheduling a visit at the jail, it is recommended that visitors first confirm the inmate’s presence by searching the Geneva County inmate roster here or calling 334-684-5671.
Depending on status, inmates are permitted visitation via electronic Kiosk 7 days per week. Visitors can check for hours and schedule visitation here or come to the jail lobby any day of the week between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

- No short shorts.
- No vulgar clothing.

Additional Information
Inmates have access to phones in their cell blocks. Calls are able to be made 7 days per week from the hours of 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. The jail reserves the right to block or restrict phone numbers for security purposes, and all calls are subject to be recorded and monitored. Family and friends are able to place money onto the inmate’s phone account by calling 877-998-5678 or by clicking here.
Misdemeanor and felony bonds can be posted through the Circuit Clerk’s office, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Medications and eyeglasses for inmates are allowed to be dropped off daily at the jail but will be first approved by medical staff.

The local sheriff’s office serves over 575 square miles and a population of nearly 27,000 people. Since 1869, the department has been responsible for primary law enforcement services of the unincorporated area and the city of Geneva.

Sheriff
The current Sheriff of Geneva County is Sheriff Anthony “Tony” Helms. He is a graduate of Southwest AL Police Academy and has received advanced law enforcement training from both state and federal training academies. In addition, Sheriff Helms has over 35 years’ experience in law enforcement. He also has been employed by the Geneva County Sheriff’s department since 1986 working first as Deputy Sheriff, as an investigator for narcotics, and as task force commander for seven years prior to his current role as sheriff. He is married with four children.
