About the County / Escambia County Jail View

Escambia County is located in the south-central section of the state of Alabama. Its largest city is Atmore, and its county seat is Brewton. It was founded in December of 1868 after the American Civil War during the Reconstruction era. Before this, American Indian tribes became to settle and inhabit the area, many of whom had close and working relationships with traders and settlers but then were forced to give up their lands and start their journey onwards to west of the Mississippi River.
