The Dale County Jail is a 116-bed facility in Ozark, Alabama, and it was built in 1988. The jail houses adult individuals who are currently serving sentences for misdemeanor crimes, awaiting trial, awaiting a bed in Alabama Department of Corrections, or awaiting sentencing. The jail is divided into separate cell blocks to enhance safety, including a segregated and specialized cell block to hold higher risk inmates based on the nature of their crimes or behaviors. The facility also has a 12-bed dorm specifically for female inmates, a full kitchen and law library.

Jail Visitation Hours / Dale County Inmate Roster
Before scheduling a visit, it is recommended that you confirm the inmate’s presence at the jail by searching the Dale County inmate roster here. Visitation at the jail occurs on Sundays at the following times:
Male Inmates
12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Female Inmates
2:30 pm – 3:00 p.m.
Trustees
3:00 pm – 3:30 p.m.
Jail Visitation Rules
- All visitors must be signed up prior to visitation time/day.
- All visitors must provide valid proof of identification (including 15 years and older).
- No children are allowed in the jail.
- Only two visitors per inmate are allowed.
- Any kind of vape or smoking product is not allowed inside the jail.
- Purses, bags, recording devices and cell phones are not allowed inside the jail.
- Money and postage stamps are only allowed to be left for the inmate being visited.
- An inmate has to be incarcerated for 72 hours prior to being eligible to have a visitor.
- Inmates that are currently on lock down are not allowed to have visitors.
Dale County Jail and its officers reserve the right to terminate or suspend visitation for failure to comply with these rules, and may result in an officer asking the visitor to leave the premises. Dale County Jail also reserves the right to ban visitors from the property.

Additional Information
The county was created from an act of legislation on December 22, 1824, and was named after Samuel Dale, a highly decorated Indian fighter and courier of military dispatches. The county sheriff’s office was created later in 1827, where James Boles was the very first elected sheriff to serve the community.

Dale County Sheriff’s Office consists of one chief clerk and three clerks that handle the day-to-day operation, including warrants, incident reports, pistol permits, and civil paperwork. Staff at the sheriff’s office works very closely with local judges, district attorneys, and court clerks.

Sheriff / Dale County Inmate Roster
Sheriff Mason Bynum graduated from the Northeast Law Enforcement Academy in 2008, and shortly after began working with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office as a transport deputy. He was promoted to Captain in 2014 and Chief Deputy in 2016. In 2023, Mason Bynum was sworn in as the county sheriff. To view the Dale County inmate roster, click here.
