  • “A” Block visitation is from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • “B” Block visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • “C” Block visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • “D” Block visitation is from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Visitation Rules / Coosa County Jail Inmate Roster

Before scheduling a visit, it is advisable that you first search the inmate roster here. Visitors to the jail must abide by the rules. Some of the facility’s key visitation rules include:

  • The facility may revoke visitation privileges due to violations and security concerns.
  • The jail may suspend visitation due to a jail emergency or some other event that poses a security threat.   
  • Inmates obtain visitation privileges after one week of incarceration. 
  • Physical contact visits are prohibited, with the exception of attorneys, law enforcement, and approved mental health personnel and clergy.  However, the sheriff or jail administrator may authorize special contact visits.
  • An inmate must submit a visitor’s list prior to visitation.
  • Inmates are permitted two visitors per week maximum, and all visits are 15 minutes long.
  • Visitors and inmates must wear proper apparel.
  • All visitors must present ID verification prior at the facility. 
  • Visitors under the age of 10 are prohibited unless special permission is given by the sheriff, lieutenant, or jail administrator. An adult must accompany any child under 16.
  • All visitors who enter the jail will be searched. Visitors who refuse to submit to a search will be prohibited from visiting the facility on a temporary or permanent basis.  
  • Anyone who attempts to introduce contraband into the facility will be arrested and prosecuted. In addition, visitors who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be denied entry and may be subject to arrest.

Sheriff Michael Howell is a lifelong resident of Coosa County who began his career in law enforcement as a reserve deputy before being hired by the Alexander City Police Department. He worked his way through the ranks and was promoted to corporal over the Detective Division, where he received many prestigious awards for working on high-profile cases. Sheriff Howell obtained his APOSTC accreditation at Jacksonville State University, an Associates Degree in Science from Central Alabama Community College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Faulkner University where he was awarded the Alfonzo Coleman Award. He was elected sheriff in 2018 and states his dedication to making Coosa County a safe place to live and work.

About the County

The county is located in central Alabama and was established in 1832. Named after the Coosa River, the county covers an area of 666 square miles and is known for its natural beauty, including parks and recreational areas such as the Coosa Wildlife Management Area and the Lake Mitchell Recreation Area. The county’s economy is largely based on agriculture, with crops like cotton, corn, and soybeans being major contributors. Additionally, the county is home to several manufacturing facilities. Coosa County is also known for its historical significance, including the Horseshoe Bend National Military Park, which commemorates a major conflict during the Creek War of 1813-1814. As of the 2020 census, the county has a population of 10,914 and its county seat is Rockford.
