• Anyone who attempts to bring contraband into the facility will face criminal charges.

• Anyone who destroys county property while at the facility will face criminal charges.

• All persons, vehicles, and packages are subject to search while at the jail.

• The jail is not liable for stolen or lost items.

• Any person who fails to follow the jail’s rules will have to leave. Failure to leave following a request to do so may result in a permanent ban.

County Sheriff / Coffee County Inmate Roster

Sheriff Dave Sutton’s life has been marked by a commitment to service. He graduated high school in 1965, and two years later, he was drafted into the United States Army. Serving in Vietnam as an enlisted SSG from 1968-1969, he returned to civilian life in 1969 and became a police officer in Texas while attending Jr. College. After graduating from Hardin Simmons University with a BS in Criminal Justice, he entered the US Army as an officer in the Medical Service Corps, eventually entering flight school at Fort Rucker in 1975.

Throughout his career, he was stationed at various bases across the world, including Fort Hood, Germany, Korea, Fort Sam Houston TX, and Redstone Arsenal. He also served in Desert Storm/Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia before retiring in 1995 as a LTC after attending the Command General Staff College. Following retirement, he continued to serve as an instructor in ROTC at Evergreen and Enterprise High School. In addition, in 2007, he was elected Sheriff and has held the position to this day. Sheriff Sutton is married to Debbie Sutton, and they have three children and six grandchildren.
