Cleburne County is located in the east central section of Alabama and its county seat is Heflin. Cleburne County was founded December 6, 1866 by Patrick Cleburne from Arkansas, who rose to the rank of Major General in the Confederate States Army. It is a total of 561 square miles, and was originally made from counties Benton, Randolph and Talladega.
