Blount County Sheriff
The sheriff of the county is Mark Moon. He has worked as a school resource officer and a patrol deputy. He has the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Academy Alabama Police Officers Standards Training (APOST) certification. Served in the Alabama National Guard as a Sergeant First Class, as well as serving two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. At Fort McClellan Military Police School, he was a military instructor. He is also a Baptist minister.

Locust Fork River is a popular location in Blount County for visitors interested in kayaking and boating. Palisades Park is a recreational park with many rock-climbing opportunities.
